Important Announcement

Based on the positive feedback we had from our customer survey at the Daffodil Cake Shop, we sought professional advice on the financial and operational feasibility of it continuing in the form of a community owned business, and we also investigated the possibilities of funding this through public grants and a public share offer.
The analysis of the figures we received and the options open to us indicated that at present there is not a sufficiently complementary match between what would be needed to purchase and operate the Daffodil and what a publicly funded community owned enterprise could offer to do this, and hence it would not be appropriate for the project to continue.
Terry and Chris are aware of this and they have decided to re-advertise the business through Steve Gooch Estate Agents, and we wish them every success and hope that Newent will be able to retain it’s valued bakery and shop in some form.
The interest we have received in the project has been very encouraging, and we thank everyone who has responded and given support.

A First for Newent

Be part of a new Community bakery and shop

The owners of The Daffodil Cake Shop in Newent, Terry and Chris, wish to retire soon, and would support it becoming a community owned enterprise as an alternative to a change of use or even closing. This is our only local bakery and shop which makes and sells quality fresh bread and cakes, and it has overwhelming support from customers for it to continue.

We Have An Opportunity To ……

Join other people in buying a share in the bakery and the shop and be part of a new community owned enterprise here. In the UK there are already over 250 community owned shops up and running, and over 100 more being established.
